Hmm… so in a few hours I embark on a 24+ hour marathon of analytic number theory. On an unrelated note, I’ve come to the conclusion that in order to actually do math, the only option is to become a professor. Assuming otherwise, suppose I get some 9-to-5 job. This simply leaves an insignificant amount of time to spend doing math, therefore, this is a lame option. Life is too short. I don’t want to waste the vast majority of it away doing something other than what I absolutely love. I demand at least one of two things: immortality, or one of those “I have $(Graham’s number) to transfer to your bank account” emails which actually isn’t a lie. Sigh, neither of these are likely to happen.
If I survive this week, I will eventually post some amusing videos of my sleep-deprived self ranting incoherently about various topics, many of which I’m sure are balanced perilously on the boundary of the set of mathematics I actually understand (which by the way has measure zero (yeah, this is definitely a run-on sentence (oh well))).
P.S.: Name a division ring which is not a field, other than the quaternions. You have 10 seconds.
EDIT: Urghk… apparently my time conflict between PMATH 499 and CO 330 next Fall cannot be resolved. Time for Plan C; I’m now willing to volunteer for even the most sketchy and experimental human cloning procedures… (OK, I actually don’t know what I am going to do).
